Summary
From the graphic novel by Frank Miller, 300 is an adaptation of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. Despite the ephors' warning that the war cannot occur, Spartan King Leonidas takes 300 of his best soldiers to fight the enormous forces of King Xerxes, the Persian leader determined to conquer and enslave Greece. On their way, the Spartan 300 are joined by a group of Arcadians and other Greeks - those who haven't surrendered to the Persian threat. 300 chronicles the preparations and outcome of this battle, not only in the narrow cliffs of Thermopylae, but in the citystates of Greece herself. A story of faith, freedom, and honor, the film gives a remarkable theatrical twist to one of the greatest battles of all time.
Plot
Based loosely on the film's actions, this rp begins weeks before the Persian emissaries arrive. It will chronicle the preparation of the soldiers and their travels - but there is also a plot to overthrow Xerxes by some of the Persian people. They seek Greek assistance - but can they be trusted? Some Spartan slaves have received Persian assurances of their freedom if they betray their elders. And the Athenian hostilities towards Sparta have not waned. Everyone is on the crest of war, and it is questionable whether anyone will survive.
