No New Posts The Wells

These enormous stone encased wells can be found throughout the Spartan city, dug about a hundred feet into the ground. Not far from the central well are the public baths for laundry.

No New Posts Public Baths

The city's water supply is spread to each corner of Sparta, including these small ponds which serve as baths. Although private baths do exist, these are public for laundry and chores.

The massive iron and stone walls which protect Sparta give way to the city's narrow, stone streets which lead a visitor in between houses, around the wells, and to public courtyards and baths. But beware after dark - it can be dangerous.
