A warm, gentle breeze causes a tickle on her face, but as she goes to brush it off she found that she could not move her arms. Looking at her skin, she realizes that it has turned into a brittle, green glass. Standing perfectly still, she breathes in shallow gulps of air, knowing that moving would cause her to shatter into thousands of pieces. The tickle on her face worsens, and she knows that she is about sneeze. As her skin shatters she wakes up with a sharp intake of breath just before she felt the scream crawling up her throat.
Gorgo quickly covered her mouth and kept the scream from ever reaching her vocals so as not to alarm her sleeping husband. After a moment she was able to sigh in relief at the realization that it was all just a nightmare... As carefully as she could, she slipped out of bed and walked out on to the balcony. The nightmare induced cold sweat now made her shiver slightly in the gentle night breeze. Gorgo looked back at her sleeping husband and felt safe. As strong as she was and could be, being at Leonidas's side was always of comfort to her, always made her feel safe - even if he were sleeping.
It wasn't long before she made her way back into bed, fearing what would await her when next she returned to dreamland. She lay awake, staring into the darkness and contemplating the possible meaning of her nightmare. After some odd minutes of thinking on it, she came to the conclusion that it meant nothing and she should think nothing of it. Still...she could not help but have want of her husband's conscious company, even if she did not admit to her dream. A simple embrace from Leonidas would be enough to diminish her silly fears. Gorgo rolled on to her side to face him, a subtle smile curling to her lips as she very gently traced the strong features of his face with her fingertips.

Leonidas dreamed happy dreams this night, he saw his son standing on top on Persia holding the mighty banner of Sparta. In his dream he saw Xerxes begging on the street for water and fought a mouse for cheese. These dreams greatly comforted this king when the world seemed to be laying all of it's troubles upon him. Night and day became irrelevant, all that mattered became stopping Persia and his family. Though on this night all seemed well for him. He had his son in good health, his beautiful wife next to him, and free Sparta all around him.
When his wife got up, he was removed from this dream land but was still sleeping, just in a lighter sleep, her return to the bed further removed him from his slumber. yet suddenly he felt a soft and gentle touch, like a summer breeze relieving him from the heat. He smiled and went to grab this gentle object that was so soothing, it was the soft hand of his wife. Leonidas opened his eyes slowly to her so he could gaze upon his queen. The moon shone into the room and hit her face perfectly, she was so radiant and beautiful. he only wanted to stare into her eyes when he sensed something amiss.
"Something troubles you M'lady?" he asked quietly to his queen. Through the years they had been married he had grown to sense his wife's feelings, to feel as she did. He knew something, perhaps something small but something was on her mind.

She let the subtlety in her smile fade as Leonidas stirred, and allowed for him to first see groggily warm smile from her. Gorgo felt slightly guilty for waking him, she new better than to bother him with such trivial matters; but in her defense, she had not entirely meant to lure him out of his slumber. However, his conscious state was most welcome – as always – for he would most certainly diminish her fears the moment he spoke. "Something troubles you m'lady?" he asked quietly to his queen. The queen shook her head as she spoke, her tone just barely above a whisper, “It was nothing more than dream, my lord.” She maneuvered her hand in his to bring his hand to her lips, where she gently kissed his fingers and added, "I am quite well now, all that was needed was the sound of your voice." Releasing his hand, she moved upward to press her lips against his. The kiss was so soft she was nearly unsure she had even reached his lips, and thusly pressed harder. So close to war with Persia, it was a great comfort to know that she was not in discord with her husband; she could not bear to be in such conditions on the brink. Moments like these made her feel safe, as if he would be with her forever - moments she was determined to have as often as possible to save the memory of how it felt to be in his arms or how it felt to have his lips against hers. She new this war was inevitable, but more than that, in the deepest corners of her mind, she knew that when he left for battle it would be the last time she saw him. These moments were all she had to keep strong…

Leonidas smiled when his wife said she was fine, it was comforting. his queen was his rock, his foundation if all else failed he knew he could turn to her. These last few moments with her he savored, he would not show weakness nor express himself, he would just enjoy it. It was times like this that Leonidas was reminded why he fought for Sparta. He was protecting his queen, his family and his people. Such was a great burden but one which he was born to bear. Every man had his place, and this was his. His place though would soon tear him from his family, he had come to accept that. Pausanias would rule as regent, a fine commander and a very persuasive man. He knew Pausanias would hold the city together until his son was of age.
These final thoughts were needed, he had to make sure everything was in place before he left. His wife though, offered his mind a relaxed moment to enjoy this time rather than worry. Her kiss brought all his worries out from his mind for the moment, he was at last relaxed.
"And I yours." he said replying to her last statement.
Leonidas now laid were he was and would relax. "Your voice soothes my worries." He chuckled and thought of Xerxes and all his wives and concubines.
"Xerxes may have all the women in the world but he will find none like mine. That is why I need but one." He kissed her hand and looked at her.

"And I yours." he said replying to her last statement.
Gorgo could not help but smile at that; despite her knowledge of the mutuality within their relationship, she did enjoy hearing certain things from Leonidas personally as opposed to the usual unspoken assumption or agreement. Even with that knowledge she could not help but be pleasantly surprised by his words, it pleased her to no end that she could offer such simple solace for her husband as he could for her. "Xerxes may have all the women in the world but he will find none like mine. That is why I need but one." He kissed her hand and looked at her. She kissed his hand before her reply, giving her a moment to think of something to say in the first place. “He is greedy and can never be satisfied. The only thing those women can genuinely offer him is the temporary satisfaction of his lust and nothing more. They mutually use each other in such a way that I am nearly ill from the mere thought of it.” Gorgo said; a slight smile of pity forming on her lips as she shook her head and returned her attention to her husband. “Methinks Xerxes knows only greed and power; that is the core of his weakness. From that core spreads weakness, after weakness, after weakness. And that, my love, is why Sparta will crush him.” It was not in her intentions to speak to Leonidas (just yet) about Xerxes and the Persians, although it was difficult when all she, and probably he, could think about anymore. The more it had to be discussed the more she had to be brought out of her delusion that he would not be leaving Sparta so soon… Perhaps it was, in fact, better for her to have no false expectations. Her private grieving process could be significantly shorter if she came to grips with everything before his departure. Gorgo looked upon her husband fondly, trying to push away the thoughts of Persians so as to continue to enjoy this moment with him. “I-” love you, she wanted to say, more than anything. “You-” should stay with me, she wanted add, never leave me. “Pleistarchus wishes to spend the day with you tomorrow.” She finally said, smiling faintly. It was very much unlike her to be so…attached, at least, it was when her actions mirrored her feelings so vividly - or so she thought. She was much more insecure than anyone would ever fully know. The worst of it was she had no one to talk to, and once Leonidas was gone she would lose the only person who could comfort her.

The only thing those women can genuinely offer him is the temporary satisfaction of his lust and nothing more. Leonidas laughed as he knew what his reply would be. "Well, their you triumph over them again, for you offer me much more than a temporary satisfaction. Your's is much longer lasting." Again he spat out another of his witty replies he had been known for. He feared though that now he was not holding his Spartan demeanor and thus would try to uphold it. It was rare for him to lower it even slightly and so he would maintain this reputation as a true Spartan. “Methinks Xerxes knows only greed and power; that is the core of his weakness. From that core spreads weakness, after weakness, after weakness. And that, my love, is why Sparta will crush him.” "Xerxes has many weaknesses, but let us not talk of such things. Only a bitter taste can result in even the thought of the man." He would not let Xerxes creep into his skin, affect his life. Already he had begun to and Leonidas would snip out any feeling of him. Leonidas saw as his wife refused to say the words he knew she wanted to. It was another of those unspoken but known things they had between them. It was painful, I will miss you, is the return he gives her. Not in words but in his grim nod and look. He knew what would happen when he left, it was unfortunate but it was his duty. “Pleistarchus wishes to spend the day with you tomorrow.” The change in conversation was joyous and he would capitalize on it. "Very well, have him ready in the morning. I may have another lesson for him yet." This lesson Leonidas would give him would not be an easy one, but one that must be done. It would be duty and the duty of others. How men must die to protect the things they love. It would be the lesson grooming him for what was to come.

"Well, there you triumph over them again, for you offer me much more than a temporary satisfaction. Your's is much longer lasting." “Mmm, I’m pleased to hear that.” She replied with a grin, nipping at his bottom lip playfully. “I do try to keep you…satisfied.” And it was true, in every aspect that she had to offer to her husband. It was very important to her – and every wife – to please her husband and give her family the best of everything and anything within their abilities; at least, that was what the queen believed and strove for. "Xerxes has many weaknesses, but let us not talk of such things. Only a bitter taste can result in even the thought of the man." Gorgo nodded in agreement, thankful that they were on the same page and could easily leave the topic of Xerxes and Persia. Sometimes it pained her when they could not voice how they felt. To be able to make the feeling, whether they were aware of how the other felt through intuition, concrete. Somehow she felt there could some early closure if she could just finally voice her ‘I love you’ and ‘I will miss you’. Even so, she knew what he meant by his actions, and while she could never be fully satisfied with it, she would at the very least pretend it was all she needed and gave him the partially false assurance with a small, saddened smile matched with downcast eyes. "Very well, have him ready in the morning. I may have another lesson for him yet." “I will.” She promised, rolling on her other side and moving Leonidas’s arm to wrap around her. “He enjoys the time spent with you…” Gorgo commented quietly, closing her eyes as she began to drift back into her dreamland. “As he should.” She added. It was not long before she was in a light sleep, one that she was in for the rest of the night, safely in the arms of her beloved king. (ooc: I really didn't know where else to go with this except back to sleep, lol. I suppose we could just start on the next day...)

(There are a couple of things we could do other than go to sleep ) He heard the unspoken words, he knew the feeling, he could do nothing though. It was their understanding. They would just feel the warmth of having the other next to them. That was very comforting for Leonidas, just to embrace his wife. Xerxes in his mind was now nothing more than an urgent chore he would have to deal with. Leonidas began to think of what he could possibly say to his son. How would he approach this topic. He slowly slipped into slumber amids a cloud of thoughts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning Leonidas got but before the sun had risen. He went and grabbed the bowl of the oil and rubbed it completely around his body, he shone like a god when the sun's rays hit him. This was Spartan way, men a women trained in the nude and the men rubbed oil over their bodies. Leonidas went outside and began his heavy training regiment. For hours he would train until the sun rose, perhaps his wife would join him later.

(ooc: Lol, saving that for later ) The first few rays of the sun trickled into the royal chambers as the sun began to rise. Gorgo stirred and opened her eyes slightly; she rolled slowly on to her other side only to find her husband had already risen. No doubt he had started training hours ago, that was usually the case if he was not there when she awoke as well. She rubbed her eyes and stretched before getting out of bed. She brushed her hair and put it up, figuring she may as well join Leonidas, even if it was just for a short amount of time – she still had to have Pleistarchus ready for his lesson. The sun was warm and the gentle breeze created enhanced the nearly perfect weather. Gorgo breathed in deeply as she stood in the doorway, she was very relaxed. Even now, her husband’s words and previous embrace comforted her. Finally, she decided to make her way to the king’s favorite training spot, figuring that was the most likely place for him to be. She decided that bothering with her usual robes would be useless right now, especially if she were to train along side her husband…among other things. He was precisely where she had expected him to be, working as hard as ever and glowing like a god in the golden hues of the sun. Gorgo leaned against a pillar, crossing her arms and smirking slightly. She watched him as he trained so very concentrated and determined. “If you were a stranger to me I would think you were Apollo himself.” The queen finally commented, desiring his attention momentarily. “Even so, I find my eyes deceiving me.” She added with grin.

He was mid thrust when his wife interrupted him. His sword gleamed in the sunlight. For being Greek, it was long. he enjoyed it though because of the experience the extra weight gave him. So when he was stopped his machine like precision was halted for a moment. He turned to see what was this intrusion, though he could tell by the voice. It was his wife. He smiled and laughed at her comment.
"Apollo, does not have a sword like mine!" he said holding his sword in the air. "Though it would be nice if everyone thought me as a god." He laughed and resumed his training. He knew if his wife was awake his would only have a few moments with her until his son woke up.

“Apollo does not have a sword like mine!” he said holding his sword in the air. “Though, it would be nice if everyone thought me as a god.” “I would not wish it; for if everyone thought as much I would never be given any opportunities to have you all to myself.” Gorgo replied with a suggestive grin. As he resumed his training she contemplated how long she ought to wait before rousing their son from his slumber. She would ask him, however, she had already interrupted him once and knew better than to interrupt him much further. She knew he would not be angry with her for breaking his concentration, but perhaps annoyed. On the other hand, she would be interrupting his training by bringing Pleistarchos to him, anyway. It seemed fair for her to speak under that train of thought, right? “I apologize for interrupting you once more, my king, but I must ask when you would wish to have your son present.” She bit her bottom lip slightly, worried that he may be irritated with her. She never meant to be a nuisance, especially in these days of late. All Gorgo wanted was to please her husband in every aspect, perfectly. This was most certainly straying away from perfection, an unfortunate side effect of not being blessed with telepathy.
